Speed up growth? EDIT I FOUND OUT! RANDOMTICKSPEED

  • #1 Jul 7, 2014

I heard that someone increased the tick rate or something making wheat, pigs, cows, carrots, etc, grow faster, but not the sun go any faster. I want this on my server and if there is a plugin that I am missing or something, Please tell me. Thanks

    :....: --> :||||:

EDIT: <_< I have played minecraft since beta 1.8 (the survival update) and I know that bone meal was nerfed, and I know most about water. But plugins? Tweaking the minecraft server code to say:
    Wheat tick mark growth: 8s
    Mob tick mark growth: 8s
    ??

You can make plants (wheat, potatoes, beatroots, grass, carrots etc.) grow faster by making bone meal and then pressing the plants. I'm not sure about animals. There might be a mod for it tho

I read on the wiki that crops grow faster if you have the water in rows as oppose to other patters.

I have heard of this too - I'm probably wrong but i think that there's a command in the 1.8 snapshot

I have the water in rows like the villagers do, and they grow in about 5-10 minutes without Bone Meal. If I do put Bone Meal, they're shooting up in about a minute.

I heard that someone increased the tick rate or something making wheat, pigs, cows, carrots, etc, grow faster, but not the sun go any faster.

Are you thinking of the "RandomTickSpeed" gamerule added in 14w17a? Among other things, increasing that will make crops grow faster without increasing the sun speed. But it won't affect animal growth.

also plants / crops grow faster in the rain

This is not true, at least not in 1.7.10. It may have been true at some point in the past, although I don't see any mention of it in history sections on the wiki.

Unless, perhaps, you're growing your crops on unhydrated farmland. But a more reliable way to get hydrated farmland is just to make sure there is water nearby.

i heard a new feature about feeding baby animals there breeding item Seeds, Wheat etc which will make them grow up faster but i don't know if thats true or not

This is true, it was added in 14w02a. Note that horses could already be accelerated in this manner.

I read on the wiki that crops grow faster if you have the water in rows as oppose to other patters.

This is false. This page on the wiki has the details; the summary is that you want your crops in rows, with either empty farmland or different crops in between the rows. The optimal layout has a 1/3 growth chance per random tick for most plants (1/4 for those at the edge of the field, 1/5 for those at the corner), which having water between each row has for most plants a 1/5 growth chance per random tick (1/6 for the plants at the ends of the rows).

Yeah, I do know that much. I have been playing since 1.8 beta. But the plugin. There has to be some plugin.

This is probably the best Info I have seen from all my searching! Big thanks :DBlock: :DBlock:

You dig a hole next to your plants and put water in it via bucket. Afterwards, craft Bonemeal out of Bones (skeletons drop Bones) and right click the plant you want to grow faster.

    Also please don't 5x post. :P

pretty sure light has nothing to do with growth of a tree.

There isn't a way to get babies to grow up, you can only do that with baby horses.

Water hydrates a 9x9 square of farmland. Trees need light to grow. /gamerule randomtickspeed doesn't affect animals. Bonemealing plants makes them grow a lot faster. Feeding baby animals is like bonemeal for animals. Plants and trees need a light level of 9 or greater to grow. I'm not new even though it may say I am. I just never post on the forum. You are all noobs.
